Expectations Of Class

I really do not know what I should expect in this course. I have never taken a course like this before, so this is new to me. I am mostly use to the basics that we are expected to learn. But, I would like to learn about how the images I see in magazine are made and the makings of the different websites I frequent during my free time.  I would also like to know how to edited my own photos and how to make different forms of images look like regular artwork done by hand. Mostly I just want to be able to understand what my professor is trying to teach and be able to use this information later on in my career.
